If you shop the US 27 corridor, Costco may be your next stop. The Lakeland Gazette says a site plan was filed with Polk County on Nov. 4 for a 158,000-square-foot Costco Wholesale warehouse on US 27 at .

The Lakeland Ledger describes the project as in the pre-planning stages, based on Polk County records and recent media reports. Property appraiser records list the land's owner as Heller Highway 27 LLC of Winter Garden.

  • Site: 40.44 acres in unincorporated Davenport
  • Gas pumps: a members-only station is part of the plan
  • Outparcels: three are included

Costco wouldn't be alone out there. The Gazette says work is underway on a 56-acre retail complex a short drive north, at US 27 and Holly Hill Grove Road, with a Sam's Club and Davenport's first Walmart Supercenter. That's a lot of bulk toilet paper on one stretch of highway.

Non-profit is looking to buy the city-owned property at 650 W. Montrose St., across from City Hall, for potential commercial and residential use. The city bought it for $785,000 in November 2023 and put $1.2 million into design and renovations before moving fire personnel to the at 400 12th St. GrowthSpotter

Groveland

At a special meeting Monday, Groveland's council approved an agreement with the state for drinking water improvements: $3.88 million in grants and another $3.88 million in an interest-free loan. The city now has more than $32 million in grants and zero-percent loans for drinking water, and says the new plant will take years. WFTV
