If Clermont felt especially soggy lately, the numbers back you up: preliminary National Weather Service totals show 6.83 inches here. Rounds of heavy rain began Sunday, and Brevard County took the worst of it, with some areas seeing a 1-in-100-year flood.

Emergency management officials warned of "life-threatening" conditions across Central Florida. Lake County was under a flood watch Monday, along with Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.

  • Forecast: drier Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Brevard County schools: closed Nov. 2 and 3
  • Brevard flood warning: in effect until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday

Melbourne set a new daily rainfall record Monday. We suggest staying off flooded roads, since floodwater can be deeper than it looks.
