Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 20th of May.
Good morning, Clermont.
The Clermont Garden Club named The Cosa Nostra on Montrose and 8th Street as Yard of the Month for May; restaurant owner Thielli Lapetina (who planted pink petunias, red marigolds, and white and pink geraniums) created a colorful display that draws local visitors.
Florida Gov. DeSantis signed a new law, the Freedom to Boat Act — which pauses a planned ban on anchoring at Silver Glen Springs and takes effect on July 1, stopping a final vote by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Local residents fighting the ban said they believe the change will help them keep boating in the area without hurting local business.
