ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Over the weekend, a crash on State Road 33 in South Lake took the lives of two South Lake High School students—17-year-old Jose Ivan and his 16-year-old girlfriend Jade—when the car lost control in a no-passing zone; two adults and two young passengers in an SUV survived, with one 6-year-old still hospitalized from a fractured lumbar.  WESH

  • Tabla Indian Restaurant had its grand opening on Monday, November 10 at 2447 S. Hwy. 27 in Clermont—welcomed by the South Lake Chamber of Commerce to bring new Indian cuisine to South Lake.   • Bricks & Minifigs Clermont opened its new toy store on November 11 at 16215 State Road 50 in Clermont, where a South Lake Chamber of Commerce member cut the ribbon to welcome LEGO® fans. The store offers a place to buy, sell & trade LEGO® products and invites locals to bring their collections for a unique shopping experience.  South Lake Tablet

  • Montverde Academy held its HoopsMania celebration on Saturday afternoon where family, students, and local fans enjoyed live music by The School of Rock of Clermont, a choir performance of the Star-Spangled Banner, and exciting basketball contests—both teams will start their regular season with the girls opening their game today at 6:00 p.m. against Lake Highland Prep and the boys set to play Southeastern Prep on November 21 at 7:30 p.m.  South Lake Tablet
  • Senior Sophia Picciano of Pinecrest Lakes Prep made local history by signing a letter of intent with West Virginia University to start her college rowing career this fall. She has strong grades and won a state rowing title, and her signing marks the first time a student has reached Division I— a first for her school.  South Lake Tablet
