COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Well Of Hope Food Bank and Thrift Store in Clermont is asking for donations to help feed children and families who struggle to afford food. Donations help buy groceries, with $25 feeding a family for one week – the goal is to raise $50,000.  South Lake Tablet
  • The 23rd Annual Royal Highlands Craft Fair will be held on November 8 at Royal Highlands Community in Leesburg from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and proceeds will benefit the South Lake Neighborhood Center and The Animal League — supporting local community programs.  South Lake Tablet
  • Lincoln Park is hosting the Year of the Youth Fall Community Event at McKinney Park, 801 N. Bloxam Avenue, Clermont on Saturday, November 8 from 3pm to 6pm. The free event will offer food, giveaways and family activities to celebrate local youth — sponsored by LiveWell, Christian Men In Action, the Clermont Police Department, the Central Florida Black Nurses Association and Find, Feed & Restore.  South Lake Tablet

CULTURE NEWS

  • South Lake Art League hosted its 5th Annual High School Art Display on November 1 at its gallery at 776 West Montrose Street in downtown Clermont — where Mayor Tim Murry presented a proclamation naming the day as South Lake Art League Day to honor its art contributions — and local high school students viewed creative works on display until November 16.  South Lake Tablet
  • South Lake Presbyterian Church will host its Annual Cantata Worship Service on December 14th at 10 am with music by East Ridge Middle School Choir, Student Flutists, Sisters of Sound, and solo piano + violin along with traditional carols that share the promise of Christmas. Guests can enjoy a complimentary lunch after the service, which is sponsored by Guru Restaurant + Zmax Web Radio.  South Lake Tablet
  • Woodlands Lutheran Church will hold its third annual performance of Handel’s Messiah on November 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary in Montverde—featuring Opera Orlando Chorus and Florida Philharmonia Orchestra with free admission and a suggested donation of $20.  South Lake Tablet

  • Eustis officials said on November 3 that a Florida Department of Transportation-certified engineer is evaluating the collapsed bridge at Spring Ridge Estates and will work on a repair plan — Fire Chief Michael Swanson noted that city utilities and other infrastructure are affected.  Fox 35 Orlando
