COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Minneola Library opened its new facility at 302 E. Pearl Street on October 25 at 9:30 a.m.—the building formerly housed city hall and public works offices. The library, designed by local firm Powell Studio Architecture, now offers check-out services, computer access, and community programs.  South Lake Tablet
  • Central Florida Dreamplex announced an expansion of its event-space rentals that offer venues such as the Play Zone, Friendship Place and Media Room for family celebrations, business meetings and community events. Every booking helps fund programs for children and adults with disabilities — reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance.  South Lake Tablet
  • The Clermont Garden Club celebrated fall at its October meeting with hostesses preparing refreshments and Banks Helfrich giving a talk on farming and sustainability—members learned of upcoming events including a Nov 15 plant sale, a Nov 19 meeting at 9:30 am, and a Nov 22 art stroll at the clubhouse on West Avenue.   • Members of the Clermont Woman’s Club visited Family Christian Center School and gave handmade Fruits of the Holy Spirit bookmarks to three third-grade classes—gifts that encourage values like love, joy, peace, and kindness.  South Lake Tablet

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Clermont Brewing Company, a well-known spot in Downtown Clermont for craft beer and live music, will host its final Halloween celebration with live music by Jenny Jenny before it closes its doors. The owners announced they will open a new venue called The Station on November 6 — featuring live music by Hayfire to continue the community spirit.  South Lake Tablet

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Heavy rains over the weekend left widespread flooding and road closures in Brevard and Lake counties, with significant washouts reported on Indian River Drive and in areas like Mount Dora and Eustis. Emergency crews responded by clearing debris and backfilling roads—residents were urged to use alternate routes until repairs are complete.  WESH
