Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 13th of October.
Good morning, Clermont.
🏘️ Community
The Neighborhood Center of South Lake has struggled with rising food prices and fewer donations that forced it to cut back school break programs (from 700 to 500 children) even as its client demand grew.
It distributed 1,467,000 lbs of food in 2024 and helped 26,649 families while managing high costs like a $2,000 monthly power bill.
🏥 Health
AdventHealth Centra Care opened its new Clermont facility with a festive Open House at 3380 South Hwy 27, where South Lake Chamber of Commerce members joined AdventHealth leaders for a ribbon-cutting.
The modern center offers urgent and primary care and is located near Staybridge Suites and the soon-to-open Sprouts Farmers Market—making it easier for South Lake residents to access care.
