EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lake County Schools released its five-year master plan that includes new campuses and capacity upgrades at existing schools to meet growing enrollment in both Wellness Way and North Lake County. The district expects to secure full funding and land for the Wellness Way high school and elementary school by 2028 with construction to follow—new projects will open in the early 2030s. WESH

- ➤ Clermont has proclaimed October 5–11 as Fire Prevention Week to focus on safe use of lithium-ion batteries and reduce fire risks. Mayor Tim Murry signed the proclamation and urged residents to buy certified products, charge batteries safely, and recycle them properly. South Lake Tablet
- ➤ The Lake County Tax Collector’s Office opened its new location at 714 U.S. Highway 27, Suite 23 in Clermont, and the Clermont Chamber of Commerce led a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Residents in the growing Four Corners area can now use services like motor vehicle registrations, titles, and driver licenses—making it easier to complete their tasks closer to home. - ➤ Lawmakers in Washington have yet to reach a deal to avert a shutdown that could furlough nearly 47,000 federal workers in Central Florida—if no agreement is reached by midnight today, delays in services like passport processing may occur. Local representatives stress that while Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits will continue, essential federal operations could be disrupted. WESH
