BUSINESS NEWS

  • SouthLake TV launched a new bus that will drive through local areas to showcase local events and businesses—its ribbon-cutting ceremony by the South Lake Chamber of Commerce marked the start of this initiative.  South Lake Tablet
  • Google and Comcast are negotiating a renewal of the carriage agreement for YouTubeTV so that the local NBC affiliate WESH remains on the service — if no deal is reached by September 30, WESH will be removed.  WESH

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Invest 94-L is a tropical wave near the Dominican Republic that may become a tropical depression by week’s end as it moves west-northwest (10-15 mph). The system is causing scattered showers and gusty winds over Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, but no impacts are expected along our coast.  WESH
  • Invest 94L, a low-pressure area producing heavy rainfall off the Dominican Republic, drifted northwest at 16 mph yesterday and is expected to develop into a tropical depression or storm—Imelda—by this weekend. Local forecasts report that breezy conditions have already sparked showers along the coast and near DeLeon Springs today with isolated thunderstorms expected by around 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  WESH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lake County deputies tied up a gator near a woman's home — captured on camera on Sept. 4 — and safely loaded it into a cruiser for relocation.  News 6
  • The Clermont Police Department will host National Night Out at Waterfront Park on October 1 from 5 pm to 8 pm — an event for local residents to meet officers and learn about safety programs.  South Lake Tablet

HEALTH NEWS

  • Orlando Health South Lake Hospital opened its new Office of Lung & Sleep Medicine at 1920 Don Wickham Drive, Suite 125 in Clermont as officials from the South Lake Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon. The new facility shows the hospital's dedication to offering personalized health care to the local community.  South Lake Tablet
