COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Meteorologist Kellianne Klass will sign off Friday, Sept. 26 after five years at WESH 2 News—her departure follows her husband's new Navy duty station assignment—leaving a strong mark on local weather coverage for Central Florida viewers.  WESH

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Although fall officially began Monday, Central Florida continues to have warm, muggy weather on Tuesday with highs in the low 90s and a 30% chance of showers and storms this afternoon in the eastern region—rain is expected to increase later in the week.  WESH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida lawmakers met on Monday in Tallahassee to review proposals to lower property taxes. The House Committee discussed ideas—such as a new tax on real estate and tourism as suggested by Rep. Chamberlin—that may lead to a constitutional amendment on the November ballot.  Fox 35 Orlando
  • Lake County commissioners will vote today at 9 a.m. on raising the gas tax from 7 cents to 12 cents per gallon to generate about $7 million each year for road repairs. Some residents support the change while others worry about higher fuel costs—experts say the vote will shape future road fixes.  News 6

  • Consumers who bought Kirkland Signature brand Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke at Costco are urged to throw it away after Annasea Foods Group recalled more than 3,000 pounds due to green onions testing positive for listeria; the recall affects products sold in 33 states including here in Florida.  Fox 35 Orlando
