  • Hampton Inn & Suites Clermont hosted a breakfast that honored firefighters from Fire Station 3 and remembered the sacrifices of 9/11—its team expressed gratitude for the local heroes who serve the community daily.  South Lake Tablet
  • The Clermont Woman’s Club held its first meeting of the 2025-2026 year at their historic clubhouse where officers reviewed upcoming events and committees. The Club announced that its Fall Expo will be held on Saturday, October 11 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center with over 40 vendors and free admission.  South Lake Tablet

HEALTH NEWS

  • Orlando Health South Lake Hospital chief medical officer Mahmoud Bakeer was named on Becker’s Patient Safety Experts to Know list for 2025, marking his second consecutive year of national recognition. His work making care safer & improving hospital performance helped the hospital earn awards including high ratings and 14 safety grades.  South Lake Tablet
  • Nemours Children’s Health named Robert Snyder, MD as chief of Florida Primary Care to manage its 19 primary care offices in Central Florida and the Treasure Coast, replacing retiring Dr. Thomas Lacy. Dr. Snyder, who previously led the medical staff at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and has over 25 years of pediatric experience, will strengthen the network’s focus on patient-centered care — building a healthier future for children.  South Lake Tablet

SPORTS NEWS

  • FCA will host its Heart & Soul Golf Tournament at Clermont National Golf Course on October 3 with players arriving at 7:30 a.m. and an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start — the event will offer participants a chance to learn about FCA’s mission and explore local sponsorship opportunities.  South Lake Tablet
  • East Ridge High School girls cross country team competed on Saturday at the SSG Hammond Invitational in Clermont in honor of the late Staff Sergeant Abraham Hammond—members of his family joined the memorial walk. Several runners set personal records—improving their times while the team finished as runner-up—and they will next race at West Orange High School on September 20.  South Lake Tablet
  • On September 11, South Lake High School Eagles beat Davenport 61-0 in their first district game with strong scoring in the first quarter—Coach Brad Lord said the team will face Mt. Dora on September 19 at 7:00 p.m.  South Lake Tablet
