  • Residents gathered on the historic Lake County Courthouse lawn on Thursday night to remember Charlie Kirk—a conservative commentator shot and killed during a campus debate in Utah this week.  Fox 35 Orlando
  • South Lake Cares partners with Joni & Friends to host a wheelchair drive at Church at South Lake on 2460 Hooks Street in Clermont where community members can drop off donations like wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and parts on Sunday, September 14 and Sunday, September 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.—donated equipment will be restored and sent to those in need of mobility.  South Lake Tablet

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lake County is facing a roughly $700 million gap to build new roads and widen old ones needed for growing traffic, with key projects including a roundabout in Clermont and SR 44 widening forecast to finish in 2033. County leaders are working with local municipalities to form joint planning agreements and may use a five-cent local gas tax to help cover repair costs—moves intended to manage rising expenses and past impact fee shortfalls.  WESH
