  • The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont will host a two-day craft and gift event on October 10 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and October 11 from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm at 712 12th Street. Local vendors will offer crafts, unique gifts, and food while proceeds will support renovations for a vital social hall — volunteers and sponsors are also sought.  South Lake Tablet

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A state appeals court ruled on Wednesday that Florida’s ban on openly carrying guns is unconstitutional—citing U.S. Supreme Court rulings—and Lake County Commissioner Anthony Sabatini declared Florida is now an open carry state on social media.  WESH
  • Lake County commissioner Anthony Sabatini has proposed renaming a major road after conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot at a college event yesterday. The proposal will be on the agenda for the Commission meeting on September 23—Sabatini represents the Four Corners district—near Orlando.  News 6

HEALTH NEWS

  • NBC News and Stanford University found that Central Florida kindergarten vaccination rates have fallen below the 95% target needed for herd immunity as state leaders plan to end vaccine mandates, causing worry among parents and officials. The state will remove some school vaccine requirements in early December—experts say lower rates could lead to more outbreaks.  WESH
