  • Clermont Garden Club named the backyard of Austin and Cat Cochran at 15909 Bay Lakes Trail in Greater Hills the Yard of the Month for September; they transformed their quarter-acre yard from all grass into a xeriscaped food forest featuring various edible plants and pollinator-friendly flowers — a project that shows their dedication to organic gardening.  South Lake Tablet
  • Clermont resident Joel Mathis—active since 1998—has kept a close watch on weather after a deadly tornado in Osceola County and now sends daily storm reports to FOX 35 using his Nikon camera and AcuRite weather station. He will be featured in an interview with meteorologist Brooks Garner later this month as he continues to help warn neighbors about severe weather.  South Lake Tablet
  • Mayor Tim Murry said residents should join public budget hearings on September 4 and September 18 and local council meetings on September 9 and September 23—he also reminded everyone that storm items like batteries and flashlights stay tax-free. He invited the community to attend the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on September 11 at the Arts and Recreation Center and Sips and Salsa on September 20 to celebrate local events.  South Lake Tablet

  • East Ridge High School Theatre Department will perform Arsenic and Old Lace in four shows from Sept 25-27 at 7 pm and a Saturday afternoon show at 2 pm - tickets are on sale for this classic comedy.  South Lake Tablet
