  • White Castle opened its second freestanding restaurant in Clermont on August 12—spanning 3,220 square feet with indoor, outdoor, and drive-through seating—and donated $5,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida while planning a third location in Kissimmee and a future switch to 24/7 service.   • Nearly two years after a fire damaged the historic Flagler Playhouse, the community theater is reopening in a new, smaller space—ready to welcome local audiences.  Fox 35 Orlando

  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical wave behind Hurricane Erin in the eastern Atlantic that may become a depression later this week. Forecasts say the storm could impact Florida next week+ with warmer waters and variable conditions guiding its path.  Fox 35 Orlando

  • South Lake High School won 16–0 over Lake Nona after a defensive stand in the first half and two second-half touchdowns—head coach Brad Lord said the team made quick changes and will work to fix mistakes before the Nature Coast game next week.  South Lake Tablet
  • Early this morning at Southern Hill Farms in Clermont during the 3rd Annual FCA XC Preseason Invitational, the East Ridge High School boys team claimed first place as Axel Sallault clocked 16:58—finishing over 23 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Strong performances by Caleb Walker and Watson Dunham helped the team secure several top finishes—and they will compete next in Jacksonville at Cecil Field on Friday Evening.  South Lake Tablet
