- ➤ Lions Den Mentorship Inc hosted its first Color Me Courageous Anti-Bullying Picnic on August 9th to raise youth violence prevention and anti-bullying awareness in our community. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lake County Commission approved a purchase agreement Tuesday to buy right-of-way along Britt Road for $675,000—nearly double the appraised value—to repair the washed-out route and ease traffic on 44B; next steps include closing on the land and finalizing the design to reopen the road. WESH
- ➤ Lake County property appraiser Mark Jordan defended his request to raise his office's budget from just under $5 million to over $6 million to add 10 new positions for essential field reviews. County commissioners sent a letter to the Florida Department of Revenue to deny the increase and said they will appeal with the Florida Cabinet if the request passes — the debate over staffing needs continues.
