- ➤ Clermont residents Christopher and Anne Condie returned home today after serving three years as mission leaders in Salt Lake City—overseeing more than 700 missionaries from six continents. They directed teaching and service efforts at food banks, shelters, and other relief centers. South Lake Tablet
- ➤ Otis and Sandra Taylor have built strong community programs that inspire volunteers and youth in South Lake County, and the Kiwanis Club of Clermont recently recognized their work with a donation. - ➤ Members of the Clermont Woman’s Club recently attended a painting with a twist event sponsored by Florida Blue and enjoyed an afternoon of creative fellowship. The event showed the club's long commitment to community and talent. South Lake Tablet
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lake County will open Minneola Horizon Academy, a new K-8 school with a focus on aviation, aerospace, and engineering, to more than 900 students beginning classes on August 11. Families can explore the campus at a Meet The Teacher event on August 6—funded by impact fees and a partnership with Space Florida to support the area's rapid growth. News 6

- ➤ WESH 2's Jason Guy and pediatrician Gayathri Kapoor advised Clermont residents to protect their skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays by using SPF 30 sunscreen and UPF clothing even on cloudy days. They urged families to check the local UV index and limit outdoor time (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) to help prevent sunburn and dehydration. WESH
