- ➤ Clermont homeowner Vicki Dewey reported an SUV crashed into her home earlier this month on Lakeshore Drive where drivers ignore the 45 mph limit and repeated accidents occur, so she urged Lake County officials to install barricades (like more telephone poles) to help protect residents. - ➤ Tess Kiernan—a Central Florida woman— said she lost nearly $3,000 after accepting a work-from-home job offer via email that promised a $4,500 monthly salary plus bonuses, and she is still looking for work. Fox 35 Orlando
- ➤ Officials said a suspected illegal gambling business in Clermont was raided on July 11—confiscating nearly 100 machines and $45,000 in cash according to State Attorney's Office documents, 10 months before the arrest of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez. Fox 35 Orlando

- ➤ Brightline Florida plans to extend its high-speed rail service from Orlando International Airport to Tampa and has scheduled a public hearing on July 17 at 2 p.m. — the project may borrow up to $400 million — to discuss bonds for the new link. If approved, the extension will cut travel time to about one hour and run along roughly 320 miles — a key update for our region — on Interstate 4. WESH
