- ➤ Clermont homeowner Vicki Dewey reported an SUV crashed into her home earlier this month on Lakeshore Drive where drivers ignore the 45 mph limit and repeated accidents occur, so she urged Lake County officials to install barricades (like more telephone poles) to help protect residents. - ➤ Brightline Florida plans to extend its high-speed rail service from Orlando International Airport to Tampa and has scheduled a public hearing on July 17 at 2 p.m. — the project may borrow up to $400 million — to discuss bonds for the new link. If approved, the extension will cut travel time to about one hour and run along roughly 320 miles — a key update for our region — on Interstate 4. WESH
