- ➤ Suspended sheriff Marcos Lopez was released on a $1 million bond Thursday after being arrested on June 5 on racketeering and conspiracy charges in connection with an alleged illegal gambling scheme that generated over $21.6 million—attorneys say he is being treated differently than other co-defendants while his estranged wife remains in jail on a $400,000 bond.
