Good morning, Clermont.

Residents recall a rare strong earthquake aftershock felt on high floors + forecasters warn a tropical disturbance will bring heavy weekend showers to Central Florida this weekend.

Colorado State University researchers lowered their forecast for the 2026 hurricane season to 11 named storms, five hurricanes, and two major hurricanes because El Niño increases wind shear.

Local officials say the update may ease concerns as the season runs through Nov. 30.

Leesburg officials did not add the planned Pride proclamation to today’s agenda after concerns from religious groups, while in Lady Lake commissioners approved a similar proclamation amid debate + influence from local leaders.

The actions raise questions on the role of government in symbolic recognitions.
