Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 3rd of June.
Good morning, Clermont.
🏘️ Community
Beta Theta-ESA, a local service organization with over 45 years of community support, donated funds to Ruff Times Rescue to help cover essential pet care costs—such as food, medication, and bedding.
Melanie Helton, the rescue's founder, said her group rescues abandoned animals to end cruelty and neglect.
🎓 Education
Montverde Academy held its 112th graduation on May 17, where 219 students earned diplomas and alumnus Rexy Rolle delivered the keynote speech.
The graduates, representing 16 countries and 29 languages, received nearly $5 million in scholarships — honors that set the stage for their college journeys.
📰 Lifestyle
Dog owners in Clermont are warned that sunscreens with ingredients (oxybenzone, octinoxate, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) can cause vomiting, diarrhea and seizures if ingested or absorbed, so they should keep such products out of pets’ reach.
Safer alternatives such as PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 (a fast-absorbing sunscreen) and SunBum Original SPF 30 are available for use during the summer.
