On Sunday, May 25, community members in Clermont visited the Memorial Vietnam Traveling Wall at Waterfront Park to honor fallen servicemen including Ronald Gaffney, who was killed in Vietnam in 1965.
The event was one of many local observances held during Memorial Day across Central Florida - reflecting the community's tribute to service.
On Memorial Day, Groveland held its first ceremony in decades at the restored Oak Tree Union Colored Cemetery of Taylorville to honor 10 veterans buried there.
City officials noted the cemetery had been abandoned since 1951 until the recent restoration — an effort that renews a long-overdue tribute to those who served.
