CRIME NEWS

  • Body camera footage shows that on a night last August three Lake County deputy sheriffs were ambushed at a mobile home on Brookside Drive in Eustis, leaving Master Deputy Bradley Link dead and two others wounded—officers from many agencies responded—and detectives allege that Julie Sulpizio lured the deputies into a trap, with her husband and daughters later dying by suicide as she now faces 13 felony charges and a possible death penalty if convicted.  WESH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The USNSCC—Clermont Battalion held its annual graduation and awards ceremony on May 17th at the Clermont Performing Arts Center to honor graduating cadets moving into higher education, military service or private careers while also recognizing under-class cadets for strong performance.  South Lake Tablet

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • NOAA released its forecast for the 2025 hurricane season, predicting 13 to 19 named storms, with 6 to 10 hurricanes and 3 to 5 major hurricanes, and a 60% chance for an above-normal season. Hurricane season starts June 1 and runs to Nov. 30—residents are urged to follow updated warnings.  WESH
