- ➤ VFW Post 5277 Auxillary will host a spaghetti dinner (May 17, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) at 855 W. Desoto Street in Clermont for $9 cash per person to support local veterans. No dinners will be held in June, July, or August. South Lake Tablet
- ➤ A local mother whose home burned down last week in Sorrento is struggling to secure stable shelter for her family of 6—she and her disabled son, now in a rehab facility for 13 days, have lost nearly everything including a vital $3,000 medical bed. The family has set up a GoFundMe to raise $40,000 and is asking for donations of clothes, toiletries, and other essentials at their local storage facility. News 6

- ➤ Family-owned Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards in Clermont has grown from a small operation founded in 1989 into the state’s largest winery producing over two million bottles a year from its 127-acre vineyard. Third-generation winemaker Christian Slupe said muscadine grapes are ideal for Florida’s climate and he expects a strong harvest by August. News 6

- ➤ The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking a driver after a hit-and-run crash on Saturday around 10:44 p.m. at the U.S. 27 and Citrus Grove Road intersection in Lake County where a 36-year-old Leesburg motorcyclist on a Yamaha was killed when a Honda HR-V swerved and a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe rear-ended her motorcycle before fleeing the scene; anyone with information is urged to call FHP at *347 or Crimeline at 1*800*423*8477. - ➤ A motorcyclist on a 2009 Yamaha was killed in a hit-and-run crash on U.S. 27 near Citrus Grove Road on May 11 when a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe struck the rider and then fled the scene—Lake County authorities are investigating the incident. FOX 35 Orlando
