- ➤ South Lake County FCA hosted its annual Night of Champions Awards event at the Living Home Church Wesley Center, where over 120 athletes and coaches from local schools were celebrated. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday around 7 p.m., authorities reported that a 78-year-old Clermont man crashed his car on 18th and Wood Street when he hit an unoccupied SUV and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead—Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident. WESH
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Lake County Sheriff's Office announced an investigation into the death of Monica Islam, 44—who was fatally shot and found in Mount Dora on May 2—after she left her gas station shift in Eustis following a phone call, and her daughter said she fears they might target her next. WESH
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lake County Schools posted graduation rates of 93% for district-operated schools and 91.7% for all schools for the 2023-2024 year, exceeding the state’s average of 89.7%. Superintendent Diane Kornegay said—using targeted interventions and a night school program—that Eustis High School, which dropped to 86%, will work to recover to about 90%. News 6
