GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a law that will expand swim lesson eligibility to kids 1 to 7 and require hospitals to provide new parents water safety materials (effective July 1) as part of a bipartisan effort to prevent drownings. The measure passed both legislative chambers unanimously. WESH
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Ayco Farms Inc., a Florida produce distributor, recalled 8,302 cartons of cantaloupes distributed from Dec. 12 to Jan. 16 due to a salmonella risk; the FDA upgraded the recall to Class I on Monday, April 20 and advises local consumers to dispose of any remaining products from home freezers.
