- ➤ Over the weekend, dozens of Lake County children attended a free fishing clinic at Hickory Point Recreational Complex in Tavares where they learned to bait hooks, cast lines and catch fish. - ➤ A residential fire in Fruitland Park on Saturday evening injured an adult and a child while three others were safely evacuated—emergency crews flew the injured by helicopter for medical attention and confirmed the home is a total loss. News 6

- ➤ Deputies responded to a Clermont-area call on Saturday about a man yelling at vehicles near Via Roma Circle off Lake Louisa Road when 39-year-old Eric Escobar, who had approached a home and pounded on a door, refused to show his hands and then displayed a handgun—prompting a deputy to shoot him dead with no others injured.
