- ➤ Dozens of Central Florida veterans flew on an honor flight from Sanford to Washington, D.C.—organized by Villages Honor Flight—yesterday. About 153 passengers, including a 93-year-old Korean War veteran, spent the day visiting memorials before flying back home. WESH
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South Lake High School’s first graduating class of the Cambridge AICE program finished school today and earned 489 college credit hours along with 14 diplomas—3 seniors received the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Award. The program gives students the chance to earn college credits and qualify for a Bright Futures scholarship with a 3.5 GPA and 100 hours of work or community service. South Lake Tablet
- ➤ Lake-Sumter State College has opened registration for Kids’ College 2025, a summer enrichment program for students in grades 1 to 12 at the Leesburg and South Lake campuses. The program offers half day or full day sessions in three two-week semesters from June 16 to July 31 and has a registration deadline of June 2—featuring a digital schedule tool and special tracks such as Healthcare Exploration Camp and Leaders in Training Program.
