Good morning, Clermont.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed a viral social media video is part of their investigation into a Lake County crash on State Road 19 where a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee ran off the road, killing three women and leaving one injured—officials are reviewing vehicle data and awaiting toxicology results.

Central Florida farmers are facing a labor shortage that forces them to use H-2A visas, which cost about $20 per hour per worker and add fees for permits, flights, food, and housing.

Ryan Atwood of H and A Farms in Mount Dora said his farm spends about a quarter-million dollars every season on these costs and is switching to machine harvestable crops as fruit and vegetable prices are expected to rise.

A new Florida bill, HB 5101, would cut funding for Advanced Placement, dual enrollment, IB and career readiness programs along with teacher bonuses, risking a 50% reduction from last year's $34 million allocation.

Local Orange County educators and parents warned the cuts would mean fewer qualified teachers and limited course options—putting students' college readiness at risk.

Residents will have the chance to attend a Coffee with a Cop event at Flag Coffee Corner, 896 W Minneola Ave., on April 16 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.—local officers will be available for friendly conversation to build community trust and address safety concerns.
