- ➤ Central Florida farmers are facing a labor shortage that forces them to use H-2A visas, which cost about $20 per hour per worker and add fees for permits, flights, food, and housing. Ryan Atwood of H and A Farms in Mount Dora said his farm spends about a quarter-million dollars every season on these costs and is switching to machine harvestable crops as fruit and vegetable prices are expected to rise.
