- ➤ Lake County seeks tenants for the 350,000 sqft former Kroger facility at the Ford Commerce Park in Groveland after the exit as officials plan to meet with Kroger and reallocate $360,000 for retraining affected employees through CareerSource starting next month (a long-term plan will develop in the spring). - ➤ Lake-Sumter State College gets a historic $10 million grant from the Live Well Foundation of South Lake to fund a new Health Professions Academic Building in Clermont – the 51,000 sqft facility will offer modern classrooms and labs to support nursing and health programs and expand local healthcare education. - ➤ Gabriel Jayjack from East Ridge High and Amaya Tuttle-Marshall from Lake Minneola High have advanced to Finalist standing in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program — a distinction shared by fewer than 1% of U.S. high school seniors.
