  • Friendly Grounds Cafe opened on Feb. 11 at The Friendship Place in the Central Florida Dreamplex campus (2400 US-27, Suite 4108) with a ribbon cutting by the South Lake Chamber. The shop gives adults with disabilities a chance to build job skills while raising funds for daily programs.  South Lake Tablet
  • Clermont Garden Club members loan plants to Cooper Memorial Library and City Hall each month to boost horticulture awareness. In February, Letizia provides a parlor palm while Sue Randall lends a calathea to help visitors learn about indoor gardening as part of a community program.  South Lake Tablet

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lake County officials announced that the property nomination window reopens on Feb. 13 and remains open until April 17 to support conservation efforts for drinking water, natural areas, and new parks and trails. Applications must include the Owner Affidavit Form if submitted on behalf of a property owner.  South Lake Tablet

SPORTS NEWS

  • South Lake FCA hosted its first annual girls’ flag football pre-season jamboree at East Ridge High School last week, where 119 athletes from six schools practiced plays (including scrimmages) and shared inspirational prayers. Regular season games will begin this week.  South Lake Tablet
